Museums at Night, the UK’s after-hours festival of arts, culture and heritage, produced by arts charity Culture24 is back for 2017. Now in its ninth year, the festival will take place in May and in October. Dates for the 2017 festivals are 17 – 20 May and 26 – 28 October respectively.  Bullet PR is proud to have worked with the festival as their retained PR agency for the past 7 years.

During the festival, hundreds of museums, galleries and historic spaces all over the UK will open their doors after dark to put on an impressive and diverse array of special night-time events – gallery gigs, art happenings, twilight screenings, all-night sleepovers, nature walks, star gazing or simply to offer the chance to experience some of the UK’s cultural venues, historic houses and museums in a new light.

There are some fantastic highlights from the upcoming festival – including Fashion and Scandal: 1960’s Archive Night London. From the Profumo affair, to mods and rockers and the cultural, sexual and social revolutions, the National Archive will be showcasing records including those charting the rise of The Beatles, the trial of Lady Chatterley’s Love and the arrest and trial of the Krays. Expect expert talks, performances, music and dancing reflecting some of the biggest events of the decade.

A History of Fashion in A 100 Objects

Bullet PR is pleased to announce they have been appointed by The Fashion Museum, Bath to manage PR for the launch of a major new exhibition called ‘A History of Fashion in 100 Objects’.

 The exhibition celebrates fashion throughout history, from the 1500s to the present day, showcasing 100 star objects drawn from the Fashion Museum’s world-class collection.

The exhibition will feature garments and fashion accessories that created the look of history or hit the headlines. From a late 1500s ‘blackwork’ embroidered man’s shirt, dating from the time of the Spanish Armada, to a ‘body-con’ Galaxy dress of the early 2000s, a time when the world was facing economic downturn, the exhibition will present iconic and influential garments and accessories spanning five centuries of innovative fashion design.

One of the earliest fashion garments to go on display is an intricately embroidered woman’s jacket worked in coloured silks and glittering metal thread and dating from the time of Shakespeare.

Fast forward over 300 years to another embroidered jacket from 1948, by Paris couturier Lucien Lelong and worn by ‘Gone with the Wind’ star Vivien Leigh.

Big names of fashion history will feature in the exhibition. Visitors will see gowns by the first fashion designers in history, including the Houses of Worth and Lucile, through to names that are more familiar today, such as Christian Dior, Alexander McQueen, Raf Simons and Christopher Kane.

British designer Lucile, Lady Duff Gordon (1863-1935), was one of the first women’s fashion designers, an astute business woman, and also a Titanic survivor. ‘A History of Fashion in 100 Objects’ will feature a Lucile embroidered silk chiffon wedding dress worn by Mabel Chappell on her wedding to Robert Fuller in 1907.

The exhibition launches on March 19th and runs until January 2018.

 

Dunkirk Little Ships at London’s Royal Docks

Bullet PR were honoured to work with the Dunkirk Little Ships last month. As part of the 75th Anniversary of Operation Dynamo, 19 of the Little Ships visited the Royal Docks in London’s East End for a sunset sailpast ahead of their journey from Ramsgate to Dunkirk.

We arranged a whole host of TV, radio and press interviews for the Dunkirk Little Ships. The story ran in The Daily Mail, The Telegraph, the Daily Express, Daily Mirror, Metro, Time Out, ITV.com and hundreds of regional newspapers. We also did interviews with BBC London, London Live, 5 Live Breakfast amongst others.

In total we had 335 mentions of the little ships at the Royal docks. The AVE was worth £485,849 AVE and the reach was 18,141,863 million.
